BUET Announces Eligible Candidates for Preliminary Admission Test

The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has announced the list of 24,205 candidates eligible to sit for the preliminary admission test for the academic year 2024-25. These candidates will compete for 1,309 seats, which include reserved spots for indigenous candidates from the Chittagong Hill Tracts and other regions—three seats in the engineering departments and urban and regional planning, and one seat in the architecture department.

The preliminary test is scheduled for January 23, followed by the main admission test on February 13 for those shortlisted based on merit. The eligibility list was published on BUET's website on Tuesday, December 24.

The admission process began with the publication of the admission notice on November 18, with online applications open from November 30 to December 14. A total of approximately 26,000 students applied by paying an initial fee of BDT 500, from which 24,205 were selected for the preliminary test.

Eligible candidates must pay a second-stage fee to participate in the preliminary test. The fee is BDT 800 for Group A applicants and BDT 1,000 for Group B applicants.
